Goats 1

My Goat was chained up and alive as of 10pm lastnight when we went to bed.At 4am when we checked our animals the goat was dead and chewed up by a pack of dogs. There is a leash law in Idaho even in the country but no one will abide by it because we are in the country. now we got to find these dogs cause they have the taste of blood and they WILL strike again. This is not the only time that they have killed, here about four months ago they killed my rabbits.

I am so sorry for your loss. You are right there is a leash law and some people do not abide by it. But I have to ask, why would you leave your goat chained up at night instead of putting it in a shed for protection from predators?

Dogs ore good to have but they need to have manners or be chained up. if dogs are running around at night, they should be shot if not on your property, becuase of what nuicance they can create, or other preditors they can bring in out of the wild.

How is this news? Come on get real. Either there is a large pack of dogs or wolves in the area and people need to protect their livestock. Maybe you're a city dweller and this has no bearing on your life but to those with livestock, it does.

ok country or city it does not matter it is the same dogs/wolves they get the taste of blood they will go for people next you get a pack of dogs together they will try to take on much bigger things and with the fences up these dogs will find a way in

Dogs/wolves are not the same. If wolves or coyotes did this and you are accusing dogs, they could be unfairly targeted by livestock owners. My dog has been blamed for missing cats and chasing horses even tho he onlygoes out to pee.

Where are you people's compassion?? It may or may not be news to some of you, but can you see the goat owner is upset about losing her pet? Put yourself in her shoes for a minute....

Linda says ...

On Wednesday, Aug 19 at 8:07 PM

Commenter

To Ryan, dogs should NOT be chained up. Chaining up a dog only leads to frustration and aggression. Increasing the risk that it will attack. Plus it is just plain mean. If you can not take care of a dog , then it is simple....do not get one.

Michael says ...

On Thursday, Aug 20 at 12:44 AM

I agree with you. You are responsible for your pet. Unfortunately the dog people aren't responsible for theirs. That's why we have to have chain laws and laws that require people to clean up after their dogs. It's because they don't.

Of all the posts here, hardly anyone shows any class. I am sorry for the loss of your goat. That's very sad and dog owners need to take responsibility. That means, spaying/neutering, so we don't have unwanted pets, fenced areas for them to roam in

Most of you are so crude and way to stupid. Spay and neuter is the thing that needs to be addressed. There are a lot of people who should not be allowed to breed, nor should be allowed to own a dog or cat. Sorry about your goat, but you need a fence.

Goats are commonly chained during the day in areas that need grazed without fences. The folks are right that say you need to protect them at night. I have lost many chickens and ducks due to lack of proper protective shelter. Goats are not cheap.

Notice how the news reports how animal attacks are going up, here in Colorado every city seems to have it, you turn the dog lose or let a wild coyote get to tame and it attacks people or there pets, you want yours safe shoot to kill! gun for hire!!!

doesn't matter if there is a leash law or not. Dogs must be kept under control and in there own property. Don't let me catch someone else's dog in my yard doing mischief..that would be the last time it did.

First off I am sorry for the lose of your goat. But how do you know it was a pack of dogs and not a coyote? Looks a lot like a coyote kill. If you live in rural Idaho you should know about predators and the risks with having live stock.

Unless you have proof of what it is you can not say. We don't all need to go grab pitch forks an go on a dog hunt. The taste of blood remark was just ridiculous. If that were the case any animal that eats another would immediately be on on a blood

What is the matter with all of you? First off the lady is upset over the lost of her animal, second off do you have proof that it was dogs that caused this problem? Why is it that you all want to handle trouble by killing an animal. I'm sick of you!
