Family Outraged after Deputy Shoots Their Dog

A Teton County, Idaho family is outraged after they say a sheriff's deputy tried to murder their dog in their own front yard.
I believe this problem goes deeper than just the deputy. I recall County Commissioners Trupp, Hoopes and Calderwood have instructed Sher. Kim Cooke to "Shoot, Shovel and Shut Up" when it came to dealing with dog problems in Teton County. I am ashamed
Teton County already has two deputies that are being investigated for poaching, and now this deputy feels the need to show them up. My opinion, he needs to hit the shooting range and practice on his aim. Score: Dog: 1 Deputy: 0
What has happened with the dog? Is he okay? The Humane Society should find him a new home and please tell us all the deputy has been fired! This action was not legal and Teton County will pay.

What a repulsive act. I hope this gets national attention. Aren't we supposed to be depending on officers to do the right thing? Did he leave an injured dog to suffer and die?? He should not be an officer! What the hell is going on in Idaho?
I cannot believe the police department has let this happen. Even If the dog was vicious or being reported with complaint he should NEVER be shot like that. It is not Humane at all. They deputy should be prosecuted. Disgusting

Why would anyone just go shoot a dog without any knowledge or a trial proving the dog had committed an act of aggression. And why didn't they euthanize him rather than shooting him in front of a 3 year old? What is wrong with this police unit??
same thing happened to our family and our dog was then diagnosed with post tramatic stress disorder. I hope the dog is doing fine and something gets changed about how law enforcement should handle dogs.

charge police department with cruelity to animals,seeing the picture of the dog justifies inhumane.my condolance to the family.
This "officers" actions are absolute irreprehensible and he should face the maximum punishment for this heinous act. I have a dog myself and I wouldn't let this "officer" or anyone else take him without proper reason AND paperwork.
WHAT THE HELL IS THIS SH*T???? I would have told the officer to get the hell off my property. He would have had to kill ME first, to get to my dog. What the hell country is this....CHINA??? Where was the ASPCA?? This REALLY pisses me off!!!!!!!!!

Murder involves humans. He tried to kill the dog not murder it. I'm not saying it's not horrible, or that the deputy doesn't deserve punishment, just that it is not murder. People anthropomorphise too much
Of course it's Murder!!! But I do have to say, Why in the heck did the owner allow it? That's what I want to know...You would have to arrest me in order to get my Dog!! Shame on this world!!!

This does not sound like something an actual police officer or Deputy would do. Are we even sure this person was a REAL cop. Was this person in a real/marked police car, was he wearing a uniform, and what if this was a pissed off citizen incognito...
I think the officer should loose his job and go to jail for 3 years this is not what cops are supposed to do and when you kill a dog like that you give it a shot to put it to sleep. this is sad
number 1 the officer should be fired and locked in jail 4 the term of 1 yr this is just wrong
The same thing happened to my grandma's dog years ago. Duke died when the town sheriff shot him on her property. He was drunk. Nothing was ever done about it. Seeing this just brings back the sickening feeling of a terrible moment in my life.
its sickening. i had a brother just like that cop. to bad we cant go shot for shot in cases like this. lets see how HE likes it when he gets shot n left to die. animal or human.. every creature desearves the right to be treated RIGHT!
Kudos to Nate for this story, but here is something to think about, if he does this to animals what will he do his children?? People who harm animals are capable of hurting humans also. Think about for a minute!!!!

why would you leave your dog lying there on the ground for 2 days for all these kids too see that cop was very wrong to do what he did but what about your action?
It looks to me as if this dog is tied up outside and not allowed in the house. If this dog is tied up and kids are allowed to go up to it at will, this dog COULD in fact bite someone. These people need to lear how to take care of their dog.
Does anyone know if that killer is still wearing a badge? I hope the dog is recovering .
This is is such a sad and awful story.. The deputy that shot the dog should be FIRED no questions asked. If the dog had done something wrong it should have been taken to a vet to be put down the right way.. Instead it was taken into unhumane hand :-(
After watching the video clip and seeing the comments, I've come to a conclusion. This started in November, and it's now July. Why is this pathetic excuse for a law enforcement agency taking so long to conduct their so-called "investigation"

Although by the sound of it, the Deputy was wrong......... I question ANY pet owner who would not have gone to take care of their "BELOVED" pets remains for days. Did the guy plan to leave a rotting carcass in his yard? The story SMELLS to me...
I'm a true animal lover I had to leave my dog this past week end with my brother n law and I cried when I left him,I feel if the story is true and that dog didn't bite anyone that cop should have to pay not a very smart cop I'd say BEST of LUCK......
What that deputy did was inlawful he had no proorf that the dog bite someone he shot the dog without probable cause he had no right.to do that and i would be feriouses if that happended to my dog if i was these people i would take the deputy to court
do you realise the cop was on severance pay? do you realise he has transferred, and may be coming to a town near you? maybe he's already there?
Just another rotton Idaho potato that thinks he is above the law because he has a badge pinned on his chest. This kind of scum should be removed from law enforcement and brought to trial for animal cruelity... New York State would have hung him....
This is absolutely uncalled for. Weather you like animals or not, they deserve to be treated humanely. And should be. I believe killing a dog in this manner is murder. And the officer if he is really one, should stand trial for trying to take a life.

Whoever sent the deputy without proper training is just as guilty.The dog deserves due process,not a vigilanty style execution based on hearsay. What has happened to humanity? The dog should be protected against further action and "damages" awarded
