POCATELLO - They painted the big rock in front of Highland High School Thursday morning. It was done by former players who wanted to pay their respects to Scott Hansen, the long time girl's basketball coach of the Rams who died Sunday.
Hansen devoted his life to Highland. He was a three sport letterman, hitting the winning shot for the Rams state championship team. He came back to coach the Rams after serving an LDS mission and guided the girls to nine state tournaments in his 17 years there.
This season, despite suffering the ravages of colon cancer, he never missed a practice or a game, leading the Rams to the district championship and a third place finish at state. His former players all came to Thursday's funeral service wearing their Highland basketball shoes.
The program at the funeral had the words, 'well done good and faithful servant.' Nothing could describe Scott Hansen better.
