Local Gymnasts
By KIDK Staff
AMMON - They are the most graceful athletes in the world- gymnasts, and here at the Idaho Elite Gymnastics School in Ammon, no less than six local girls are headed to White Fish, Montana this weekend, for the regional tournament, and a chance to move on to the nationals in Oklahoma later this year.
Dani Mosbrucker, is a 14 year old ninth grader at Eagle Rock Middle School. She is a level nine gymnast, which is one below the top level for competitive gymnasts joining her at regionals in the level nine competition, is Rigby Junior, Mackenzie Mobley, who has had to overcome a serious knee injury to get this far, and Mckayla McKnight, a 14 year old eighth grader at Sand Creek Middle School, level eight competitors at regionals are 12 year old seventh grader, Brittany Johnson who attends Sand Creek, 12 year old Maddi Ward a sixth grader at Madison Middle School in Rexburg, and 13 year old Jessie Blackburn, a 7th grader at Sand Creek. All of these intense athletes are in the gym at least four hours every day, striving for approval from their coach, Sergei Popov, who is one of the best gymnastics coaches in the entire nation. You have to love this sport to be as dedicated at it as these girls are. It's a love that comes from incredibly hard work, and in these girls cases, a lot of success. |
