Voice of Idaho Falls Chukars recovering from surgery

IDAHO FALLS - The Idaho Falls Chukars start their home season June 23 and hopefully, the best loved chukar of them all, will be back in action by then.

Jim Garshow is recuperating at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center from surgery to remove the bottom portion of his right leg.

The 72-year old broadcaster who is in his 50th year as a sportscaster has been suffering from circulation problems and doctors decided the best course of action would be to remove the leg.

But before he went in for the operation, Jim purchased his golf pass for this year. So as soon as he gets his prosthetic leg, he'll be back on the course, and back in the broadcast booth. Not bad for a guy who got an artificial heart 22-years ago.

This week Gov. Otter signed a bill requiring Idaho to sue the federal government if Congress passes health care reform. What's your response to this?

  • It's great to see Idaho taking the lead on this. Someone has to stand up to what's happening in Washington.
  • We can't afford to pay for education in Idaho, but we're going to spend tax dollars to sue the feds? Ridiculous.
  • Not sure.
