Student Athlete of the Week - J.C. Scrogum

IDAHO FALLS - The vaunted Hillcrest offense was going up against Skyline's defense last Friday night, and instead of piling up 40 or more points like they have every other game for the last year, Skyline's junior safety, J.C. Scrogum simply said no.

13 tackles against the vaunted Knight Runners, leading to an upset victory, Hillcrest's first loss in over a year.

The incredible thing is that Scrogum has been doing that since he was a freshman. That's right, he was a 9th grade starter for the Grizzlies, and the little 5'10" 170 pounder, has turned into a tackling machine.

J.C., who also plays basketball and track is an excellent student, a 3.6 grade point average.

J.C. Scrogum, who also has five interceptions so far this season, is a clear choice as our KIDK Student Athlete of the Week.

Idaho law allows state agencies to divert some state income tax refunds to pay legal obligations like court fees, child support, and sheriff's garnishments. Taxpayers whose refunds have been diverted have no legal recourse. What do you think of the law?

  • Times are tight. If the state needs the money, this approach is better than budget cuts, tax hikes, etc.
  • I'm entitled to the refund, and the state can just take it? Unfair and ridiculous.
  • Not sure.
