IDAHO FALLS - That's Emily Matosich that Idaho Falls Softball Coach, Mike Durant is talking about. The senior catcher who has been a three year starter for the Tigers is hitting an amazing .525 as they get set for the regional tournament.

I guess she's having a good year. In addition to her sensational batting average her slugging percentage is an unheard of .833. That's because she's got 13 extra base hits.

On defense she's only made three errors all season, unbelievable for a catcher. Oh, and just for good measure, she's stolen 19 bases, but has thrown out everyone who has tried to steal against her.

Emily is also a champion in the classroom, maintaining a solid 3.6 grade point average.

Emily Matosich, has already agreed to a volleyball scholarship at Montana Tech in Butte, but now because of her success in softball this season, she is entertaining scholarship offers in that sport. Wherever she ends up, she'll go as our KIDK Student Athlete of the Week.

This week Gov. Otter signed a bill requiring Idaho to sue the federal government if Congress passes health care reform. What's your response to this?

  • It's great to see Idaho taking the lead on this. Someone has to stand up to what's happening in Washington.
  • We can't afford to pay for education in Idaho, but we're going to spend tax dollars to sue the feds? Ridiculous.
  • Not sure.
