Tyler Rhoton - KIDK Student Athlete of the Week 10-7-08
By Ted Dawson
It's ten o'clock at night, and the moon is coming up over the Sugar Salem football field, but the Diggers are just starting practice because more than half the team has been working in the potato fields.
Tyler Rhoton ought to know. He spends twelve to thirteen hours in the field, and then at practice, he's the leading rusher on offense., a pass stealing cornerback on defense and, he runs back punts and kickoffs. He's never off the field. After working in the fields last Friday, Tyler took on a Shelly team that hadn't lost a conference game in six years. By the time the night was over the 5'11" 160 pound senior had scored two touchdowns and intercepted a pass in a 21-7 shocker over last year's 3A state champions. Rhoton who came to Idaho tow years ago from football rich Georgia when his father signed on to teach at BYU-Idaho, is more than just a football player. The student body president also maintains a 3.92 grade point average. Tyler Rhoton who is alread being recruited by several colleges around the West, is a clear choice as our KIDK Student Athlete of the Week. |
