Results from state junior high school rodeo finals
FILER - It was a championship weekend for local athletes at the state junior high school rodeo finals in Filer.

Fourteen-year old Garrett Smith of Rexburg, who won the tie down roping competition, and the all around cowboy is one of them. The other is 14-year old Makayla Boots from St. Anthony, who has been a life-long friend of Garrett. She walked away with the pole bending competition, and all around cowgirl.

Garrett ended up winning first in goat tying, first in chute dogging..... first in team roping with Makayla, and second by half a point in bull riding.

Makayla and Garrett who teamed up for the fastest time at the rodeo in this ribbon roping event will be heading to Gallup, New Mexico for the national finals later this month.

Eating healthier

Several local school districts have changed their cafeteria menus to healthier fare. What about you? Are you eating healthier than you used to?

  • Yes. I've made big changes in my diet. More fruits and veggies and less fried foods. I feel much better as a result.
  • Sort of. I made changes in my diet for awhile, but it never seemed to do much good. I've gone back to the way I used to eat.
  • I haven't made any changes, but I've always eaten a very healthy diet.
  • No. I eat what I want to eat and I don't worry about it.
