OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Catcher Kenji Johjima has gone on the Mariners' 15-day disabled list with a broken big toe.

Seattle selected catcher Guillermo Quiroz from Double-A West Tennessee. To make room on the 40-man roster, left-handed pitcher Cesar Jimenez has been transferred from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list.

The 32-year-old Johjima was injured Monday when Oakland's Adam Kennedy slid into his left foot.

It is the second trip to the DL this season for Johjima. He was also there April 16-May 1 with a strained hamstring.

Johjima is hitting .250 with three home runs and 10 RBI in 25 games.

The 27-year-old Quiroz began the season at Triple-A Tacoma. He played in 95 games with Toronto (2004-05), Seattle (2006), Texas (2007) and Baltimore (2008).

This week Gov. Otter signed a bill requiring Idaho to sue the federal government if Congress passes health care reform. What's your response to this?

  • It's great to see Idaho taking the lead on this. Someone has to stand up to what's happening in Washington.
  • We can't afford to pay for education in Idaho, but we're going to spend tax dollars to sue the feds? Ridiculous.
  • Not sure.
