Theater revolution in Rexburg
REXBURG - All theaters in Rexburg have or will under go remodeling this summer. They're all getting upgrades, and one has a new owner.

There's a lot of changes to theaters in town. The Rex Theater has new ownership and a new name, Fat Cats.

"Here at Fat Cats there's going to be a variety of different changes and exciting new additions to our family fun entertainment center," said Michelle Sidener, GM of Fat Cats.

One of those changes includes adding a unique game called "balladium," it's a mix between paint ball and lazer tag. They also plan on adding glow in the dark miniature golf. The building will under go some remodeling, and may even be expanded.

And for those of you who wondering, the new owners plan on sticking with the family format and will not show rated-R movies.

"We've been doing a lot of remodeling," said Paramount 5 owner Cameron Andrews.

And there's technology improvements too. The Paramount 5 has just added Dolby Digital 3D which pulls you into the movie.

"It's a significantly different experience. The 3D glasses we use are not disposable like Edwards, they have to be returned after each show... 3D offers a lot more to the customers," said Andrews.

You might be wondering, why is a discount theater upgrading to 3D. But owner Cameron Andrews says it's a long term investment, and it will only cost ticketpayers an extra 2 dollars per ticket to see a film in 3D. The Paramount 5 will also see continued remodeling in the coming weeks.

Many theaters across the nation are upgrading to digital. And although the Paramount has made the upgrade, they say 3D is a better sell to the customer. So the trend to go 3D will likely outpace the digital push.

Eyewitness News is also aware of the Westwood Theater remodel and name change to the Romance Theater, however, no one at Rexburg City Hall was available for comment.

  • Sort of. I made changes in my diet for awhile, but it never seemed to do much good. I've gone back to the way I used to eat.
  • I haven't made any changes, but I've always eaten a very healthy diet.
