Local girls attend self-esteem retreat
POCATELLO - Girls from all over Eastern Idaho came to Pocatello to learn a little more about respect and having good self esteem.

The Girl Scouts of Silver Sage Council attended a special retreat Saturday taught by community members who donated their time and talents to the young girls. The sessions included dealing with bullies, exercising, jewelry making, and some nutrition tips. All of the classes worked toward one common goal.

"We made some bracelets and they say trust and respect and we are doing Pilate's so its helping us with the body," Grace Hancock said, a girl scout at the event.

"It's a way for girls to get together and have fun and meet other girl scouts and do something where they are really learning leadership qualities by having fun," said Stephanie Richardson with Girl Scouts Silver Sage Council.

The Girl Scouts do 4 big activities and retreats each year. If you're interested in getting involved call Stephanie at (208) 234-9076.

Eating healthier

Several local school districts have changed their cafeteria menus to healthier fare. What about you? Are you eating healthier than you used to?

  • Yes. I've made big changes in my diet. More fruits and veggies and less fried foods. I feel much better as a result.
  • Sort of. I made changes in my diet for awhile, but it never seemed to do much good. I've gone back to the way I used to eat.
  • I haven't made any changes, but I've always eaten a very healthy diet.
  • No. I eat what I want to eat and I don't worry about it.
