IDAHO FALLS - On Veterans Day, the American Legion Auxiliary went to 11 different schools to pick up donated canned food for the Pocatello Veterans Home.

Early this morning, members of the National Guard braved the cold weather and loaded all the donated food items onto two trucks. The convoy then made the journey to the Veterans Home.

"When the food gets to Pocatello, it will help supplement their food storage to help save on some costs. The costs of everything goes up, and Veterans Homes are no different," says Toni Gimpel of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Over 7,000 items of food were donated by the local schools. This will help the 50 residents currently living at the Veterans Home.

This week Gov. Otter signed a bill requiring Idaho to sue the federal government if Congress passes health care reform. What's your response to this?

  • It's great to see Idaho taking the lead on this. Someone has to stand up to what's happening in Washington.
  • We can't afford to pay for education in Idaho, but we're going to spend tax dollars to sue the feds? Ridiculous.
  • Not sure.
