POCATELLO - Police officers are investigating the death of a 57-year-old man found in an alley near Cedar and Randolph St.

Portneuf Medical Center contacted investigators to be on the lookout for the man after he took off from the hospital Thursday.

His body was located around 8 p.m., and he was pronounced dead on the scene.

Neighbors in the area haven't ever seen anything like it before. Larry Lewis, a neighbor said, "That's what I couldn't understand to start with was those big fire trucks were pulled in there, and there wasn't any fire."

Investigators don't believe foul play is involved.

Toxicology tests are underway.

The man's name has not been released.

This week Gov. Otter signed a bill requiring Idaho to sue the federal government if Congress passes health care reform. What's your response to this?

  • It's great to see Idaho taking the lead on this. Someone has to stand up to what's happening in Washington.
  • We can't afford to pay for education in Idaho, but we're going to spend tax dollars to sue the feds? Ridiculous.
  • Not sure.
