POCATELLO - Shocked is the word Brian Blad uses to describe how he felt when he realized he is the new Mayor of Pocatello.

Blad is excited for the chance to serve, but is nervous about getting up to speed on all of the city issues.

He plans to work closely with Mayor Roger Chase until the transition at the end of the year.

One of his biggest goals is to increase communication at City Hall. Brian Blad, Pocatello Mayor-Elect said, "People felt a disconnect between City Hall and their home. Hopefully we can bridge that gap."

Blad won the election by just 375 votes.

Only 7,200 votes were cast, that's the least amount in 16 years.

This week Gov. Otter signed a bill requiring Idaho to sue the federal government if Congress passes health care reform. What's your response to this?

  • It's great to see Idaho taking the lead on this. Someone has to stand up to what's happening in Washington.
  • We can't afford to pay for education in Idaho, but we're going to spend tax dollars to sue the feds? Ridiculous.
  • Not sure.
