Possible drive-by shooting in Ammon
By Anthony Congi
Around 4 AM Sunday morning, Tyler Pettingill was awakened by a loud noise, but had no idea what had happened.
"I assumed that maybe something had fallen off the counter top or something, I was looking around my house, didn't see anything. Went back to bed and then the next morning I found bullet holes all over my walls," says Pettingill. 5 shots were fired into Tyler's home located on Indian Hollow, right near Bridge Water Elementary. "Had I known it was bullet holes that night I would have freaked out. It's just me that lives here, but that would be kids bedrooms there," says Pettingill. Just down Ammon Road on O'Bryant, this house was also shot at. "I wanted to move," said shooting victim, Carrie Clyde. This family of seven just moved to the area a couple months ago and are still getting used to living by a busy street with a lot of noise. "We heard stuff that sounded like fireworks, firecrackers going off from the street and we didn't really look into it that night, but in the morning when we got up with the kids, we looked at these and it looked like actual bullets," said Clyde. Luckily, just a single bullet was fired, and wasn't near any of the kids' rooms. Even though no one was hurt, everyone affected is obviously shaken up. "Everyone keeps assuring us that it's just random acts and this never happens, but being new here, we don't really know that for ourselves," says Clyde. "Obviously, I'd like to see the people apprehended. The cost is an inconvenience and no one likes to spend more money, but I don't want to see anyone get killed or shot. There was a bullet hole ten feet from where I was sleeping," says Pettingill. Police believe the two incidents are related, but they don't have many leads.
