Neighbors feel cheated over fence repairs
INKOM - A few homeowners are upset with a man they hired to do some repairs on a fence, and now they're having trouble getting in touch with him.

In July, two neighbors paid to have this fence power washed and sprayed with two coats of linseed oil to protect it.

When everything was done it was supposed to look dark, but several sections actually look faded. Matthew Bezayiff, a concerned homeowner said, "The fence looks worse than it did before."

The owners feel cheated. It cost around $1,200 to have work done on both sides of the fence. Bezayiff, "I just hired him because of the easiness of him doing the work for me."

And while they're not happy with the results, neighbors are still trying to get a hold of the man who did the work so that they can come to some sort of resolution. "I would love to talk to the gentleman. I would like to have him come back over. But he's not returning any phone calls to us, and it's just like going out into dead air," said Bezayiff.

They're also worried that they aren't the only people who have fallen into this kind of situation. Bezayiff said, "My concern is that the neighbors are elderly, this side has an elderly person on it, and I feel that this person has been taking advantage of the elderly."

To avoid these problems in the future the Bezayiff's will only hire someone who is a licensed contractor, and who has good references. "He did offer a 10 year warranty on the fence," said Bezayiff.

Which they plan to use if they can contact the man who did the work.

We didn't include the name of the man who did the work, because we are still trying to get a hold of him to find out his side of the story.

We've called the number on his business card, and have only been able to leave a voice message.

Wind Farms

The wind turbines lining the foothills east of Idaho Falls are getting a lot of attention. What do you think about the wind farms?

  • They're too close to residential areas and they're lowering property values. They're ruining the view. Build them somewhere else!
  • They provide clean energy, and they generate local jobs and tax revenue. They're the wave of the future. Welcome to town!
  • Not sure.
