Albert Nelson, the missing man with down syndrome

ST. ANTHONY - "There's something that just doesn't make sense about Albert missing. It's like he just disappeared into this air. There's got to be something else. He's just gone, no one's found his Maverik mug, his paper, his bag that he never goes anywhere without. It just seems like something is wrong, I don't think Albert would leave on his own," said Margie Harris, who has been friends with Albert Nelson for many years.

Since Albert Nelson has down syndrome - his intellectual age is close to that of an 8-year-old.

"Because Albert's an adult, they can't do an amber alert, because he's an adult they don't put him into the system with missing and exploited children," said Harris.

"There are so many out there. So many people that can see him. Albert needs our help," said Brec Wright.

You can identify Albert by his thick classes, the fan he is constantly waiving around made out of paper, or even his giant maverik mug.

"We need to get out and find Albert. I feel like if he was on his own he'd be close by. He couldn't walk very far. Somebody has to know something. And we're asking if you anything at all please call, please give us any information you have," said Heather Bennett.

Albert went missing a couple days ago from this house in St. Anthony. Crews have searched a 2 mile radius surrounding this home, and have even lowered the water levels in the canal today as part of their search.

"He's vulnerable just like a child is vulnerable, we should watch out and protect him just like we'd do for children," said Harris.

Coming up on Monday there will be a candle light vigil at 8pm in Clyde Keefer park.

This week Gov. Otter signed a bill requiring Idaho to sue the federal government if Congress passes health care reform. What's your response to this?

  • It's great to see Idaho taking the lead on this. Someone has to stand up to what's happening in Washington.
  • We can't afford to pay for education in Idaho, but we're going to spend tax dollars to sue the feds? Ridiculous.
  • Not sure.
