Rigby Lake cleanup

By Steven Pope

RIGBY - Rigby Lake cleanup crews have accomplished quite the makeover.

Thousands of branches and debris were removed from the beaches and surrounding area allowing for 32 new campsites.

Cottonwood trees require high maintenance, and after the fire caused by fireworks last year burned much of the north east corner, commissioners ordered a cleanup.

Scott Herrick, the Lake Caretaker said, "It got to the point it was a big mess, either we close it down for health reasons and all the mess that was here, or we clean up."

Rigby Lake is filled by ground water...... Idaho Fish and Game stocks it up every year.

This week Gov. Otter signed a bill requiring Idaho to sue the federal government if Congress passes health care reform. What's your response to this?

  • It's great to see Idaho taking the lead on this. Someone has to stand up to what's happening in Washington.
  • We can't afford to pay for education in Idaho, but we're going to spend tax dollars to sue the feds? Ridiculous.
  • Not sure.
