Rexburg Snow Fest

By Steven Pope

REXBURG - A couple thousand LOCALS came out to Smith park to enjoy the snow.

Snowman bowling takes a little bit more than skill, it takes luck... Or a bit of help from dad.

For those with a bad under arm, they tried their luck at the snowball target competition.

A handful of Horse wagons circled the park with that Winter Sleigh feeling.

But a snowfest wouldn't be complete with out some snow sculptures. Here we have a bear in the making, an elk, and the Teton mountains.

There was even a LITTLE SOMETHING TO WARM EVERYBODY PUT.

Mayor Larson kicked off the most popular event...
And reporter Steven Pope was one of the first to take the plunge... "its 22 degrees outside, and I'm about to make the polar bear plunge. As I lunged to grab the frisbee I became breathless as I entered the water."

Others agreed, it was freezing.

Even Super man showed up to dive.

The first 50 people that signed up got THIS beanie for their endeavors.

The celebration ended with the Christmas Tree bonfire.

The city has been collecting trees all month, but they just wouldn't light on fire.

Turning the snow-fest... Into a smoke-fest.

This week Gov. Otter signed a bill requiring Idaho to sue the federal government if Congress passes health care reform. What's your response to this?

  • It's great to see Idaho taking the lead on this. Someone has to stand up to what's happening in Washington.
  • We can't afford to pay for education in Idaho, but we're going to spend tax dollars to sue the feds? Ridiculous.
  • Not sure.
