MENAN - Jefferson High School in Menan was put on lockdown Wednesday after a man with a gun was spotted walking around campus.

The man walked across the parking lot and basketball court with his dog.

School officials called the Sheriff's Office and put the school on lockdown.

When deputies arrived, the suspect was ordered to drop the gun, which he did.

Turns out the man was duck hunting and walked across the school grounds to get to his destination.

The suspect, who didn't realize school was in session, was released.
