Ski lessons
POCATELLO - "I saw a bunch of people skiing down the slopes and it looked so fun," says ski beginner Amber Roundy.

After watching people take on the sport during a drive through Colorado, Amber Roundy is now going to try it out herself.

"Just came for a little vacation ski for a day," says Roundy.

A vacation with fifteen other family members, making their way from Nevada to take on the challenge.

"I think it will be harder than everyone makes it look," she says.

Hard at first but with some help, these first timers may end up being pros.

"They're gonna learn everything they need to learn to get started skiing so well teach them how to put their skis on, how to walk around a little bit in their skis, how to stop, how to turn, and most importantly how to ride and get off the lift," says ski instructor Dana Christ.

Pebble Creek Ski Resort began their Start Skiing and Start Snowboarding program this weekend.

"You know it's really hard for people just to come up here and have their buddy teach them or just try to figure out on their own. It's really inexpensive and it least gives you a little bit of a start," says Christ.

A start at first, but in the end, hopes of a new interest.

"We want them to get a good start and enjoy it and then hopefully they'll come back," she says.

Taking the state long trip to return may not happen for Roundy anytime soon, but she will finally get her first taste of the sport.

"I've been wanting to ski for several years," says Roundy.

And doing it with her family, some additional fun.

"I think it will be pretty funny watching everybody try their skis, home entertainment there," she says.

Beginner lessons for ski and snow boarding will be taking place every Saturday and Sunday until the middle of March.

Wind Farms

The wind turbines lining the foothills east of Idaho Falls are getting a lot of attention. What do you think about the wind farms?

  • They're too close to residential areas and they're lowering property values. They're ruining the view. Build them somewhere else!
  • They provide clean energy, and they generate local jobs and tax revenue. They're the wave of the future. Welcome to town!
  • Not sure.
