IDAHO FALLS- People with an analog television who do not have cable or satellite TV need to get a converter box or upgrade to a digital TV set. Upgrading to a new TV could cost you a few hundred dollars, but a converter box only runs around 50.

"After the test that Channel 3 and all the other stations did last night at 6:58 p.m., I thought well let me get on the ball with this and get the converter box," says Wayne Ramsey, who has already replaced most of the TV's in his house.

To offset the cost of a converter box, you can apply for a $40 coupon through the government, but they don't last forever.

"I go into Circuit City this morning to take in my $40 coupon and they tell me the cards expired," say Ramsey.

Being prepared for the switch over, he ordered his coupons months ago not realizing there was an expiration date.

"I tried to sign up for another card, to get one card, for the one TV, and no. I can't that's it. That's me. That's my address and I'm stuck," he adds.

Technically you have until February 17th to officially switch over to digital, but that's not the case if you want to save.

"The legislation that enacted this program requires that coupons expire 90 days from the date mailed. Coupon expiration dates cannot be extended and coupons cannot be reissued under any circumstances," said on an automated service for TV Converter Box Company Coupon Program.
