POCATELLO - A Boise man was given a Certificate of Appreciation by the Idaho State Police in Pocatello today for saving the life of a fort hall woman.

On August 20th an SUV, driven by Ruby Green, had a tire blow causing it to roll through the median and burst into flames on I-15 near the Fort Hall exit.

When Jorgan Peterson saw the accident he just acted out of impulse.
"I saw that the engine was on fire. I couldn't get the driver door open, couldn't get the passenger door open. So just finally undid her seatbelt on the driver's side and kind of pushed her to the passenger side and then just pulled her through the window," said Peterson.

When asked what Ruby Green thought of Peterson's actions she said, "I'm very grateful that he was there so I can be around my kids. I know if he wasn't there I wouldn't be here today."

After the accident Green was taken to the hospital, but only had some scraps and bruises.

Peterson feels he did what anyone else would have done in the same situation.

An unnamed trucker was also on the scene of the accident and helped Peterson pull Green from the vehicle.
