POCATELLO - 90 percent of major natural disasters will cause you to evacuate your home.

"If you have to leave your house it will be for at least 72 hours before you can get shelter, says Emergency Supply Depot owner, James Armstrong."

And during that time you're going to need a good emergency kit with all the basics to take care of yourself for at least that long.

"You're going to need a good sturdy, lightweight bag, explained Armstrong."

Most of you already have emergency stuff in your basement, problem is, you can't take it with you. Once you have your bag, fill it with only the necessities.

"You have your water, food, heat, shelter, communication, and first aid kit, says Armstrong."

Now that you have all the basics you need, the best tip you can follow is to mentally prepare yourself for an emergency.

"If you panic...its going to help, says Armstrong."
