ST. ANTHONY - A busy weekend at the St. Anthony sand dunes had law enforcement and rescue teams scrambling to several accidents.

Even with the rainy weather on Labor Day, it was about as busy as years past. There were seven major accidents and one search and rescue operation over the weekend.

Three people were airlifted to the hospital over the weekend. In one incident, a 16-year-old female riding on an ATV with a five-year-old when they crashed. The 16-year-old broke her pelvis and the five-year-old broke both legs.

In another accident, a 31-year-old male was on thunder mountain when he flew off his ATV and fell about 40-60 feet...crashing to the ground.
At last check, he is in the intensive care unit.

Search and Rescue was also called out to look for a woman. Her husband reported her missing. Fortunately, crews found her in good health quickly.

Now that labor day is over, traffic at the dunes should drop dramatically.

This week Gov. Otter signed a bill requiring Idaho to sue the federal government if Congress passes health care reform. What's your response to this?

  • It's great to see Idaho taking the lead on this. Someone has to stand up to what's happening in Washington.
  • We can't afford to pay for education in Idaho, but we're going to spend tax dollars to sue the feds? Ridiculous.
  • Not sure.
