Dangerous Rail Road Tracks
By Hasti Taghi
IDAHO FALLS - "Just coming over these tracks, you can see the spikes are poking up, they're terrible," says Bridgett Whitmill, who has lived near the crossing for the last 18-years. These railroad tracks on Anderson near Wadsworth have cost one family hundreds of dollars in car repairs.
"He hit a spike that was poking out of the road and it punctured our tire...it's happened twice." The tracks down the street have recently been replaced. Will these tracks be next? "We've been here since may of 90 and it's just progressively gotten worse." It's obvious the tracks are aging, but are they a danger to drivers? "It's hazardous to vehicles..it's hazardous to the cars coming toward you because you have to veer sporadically to go over the tracks and it's just dangerous...hard on the suspension." We tried contacting Pacific Union to see if these tracks are scheduled to be replaced, but because of the holiday they are not available for comment. We will continue to try contacting the company for an answer. |
