ARCO - "We don't get a lot of people come here to Arco because it's so small," says Kali Giles, Arco Student

With a little more than a thousand residents and less than a square mile area, Arco is not always the center of attention, but for today, it's the capital of the gem state.

"Idaho still enjoys a citizen legislature where we have the farmer, rancher, insurance salesmen... Representing the citizens. I want it to stay that way," says Governor C.L. Butch Otter.

Governor Butch Otter along with a team of his top executives met with the people in town today. An overflowing room greeted the state's top official and excited citizens were eager to ask questions.

"They were talking about raising minimum wage and I'm not really for it because it would make it harder for the entrepreneur run a successful small business," says Wade Callister, Arco Student.

And opinions like this are what the Governor is hoping to take back to Boise. Among those meeting with the governor were local students from a government class. With an important election coming up this year, I asked the governor what advice he has for these first time voters.

"Find out what the proper role of government is... Find out what you want and the candidates that support that," says Governor Otter.
