What happens to your pets, when something happens to you?
One Rigby couple found out the hard way.
Now two of their puppies are looking for a new home.
It was a car accident that changed Donald's and Rita's life forever.
Donald, was in I-C-U. He isn't responding to much. As for Rita, she may never be able to walk again, she's paralyzed from the waist down.
But those aren't' even their biggest concerns right now. What matters most to them, is to find a home for their beloved dogs.

Meet Kash and Karrie.

Rita Inman:"We couldn't have had better dogs."

The Ameripet Hotel has been their home for the last month.

Andi Elliot, Humane Society Of The Upper Valley: "They're together that makes a big difference."

And for Donald and Rita the hospital has been their home.

Inman: "Our lives will never be the same."

Ever since their terrible accident.

Inman: "I didn't see the truck or anything. I wasn't looking. Just aware of a tremendous crash and then the car bounced and bounced."

They bounced right into a ditch.
Rita thought no one would find them.

Inman: "Couldn't feel my leg, kept repeating I couldn't feel my leg. Donald wasn't answering me anymore. He never answered. He moaned. Then silence."

That silence changed everything.

Inman: "Something never dreamed it would ever happen. Doesn't always happen to someone else."

Elliot: "Good example of a situation always need to prepare in case something does happen."

Well, something did happen..
These days Rita wheels herself to see Donald everyday, as part of her physical therapy.

Inman: "Just keep talking to him, calling to him, maybe he'll hear me."

The sound of Kash and Karrie playing is something she probably wont ever hear again.

Inman: "Don't know. Don't know it'll be too hard. It might be."

Rita says what matters now, is working hard to get through this. And finding a new home for these guys.

Inman: "I know whoever takes them will love them, will love them. They're so lovable. That helps ease the pain."

And more importantly to keep them together.

Elliot: "Gives them some security, right there and always been together. Hope to keep them together."

Although they're taken care of here.
Nothing compares to a loving home.

Inman: "They're just perfect."

Kash and Karrie have both been fixed and are up to date with all their shots.
If you're interested in adopting both puppies give Andi Elliot, the president of the upper valley, humane society a call at
