UPDATE: Fatal Train Accident
By Kris Keach
This is what's left of 30-year-old Tamara Stelzer's 2004 Chevy Impala after it collided with a train on River Bridge Road early yesterday evening.
Today in Menan one eyewitness recalled the hearing the train and looking up to see the car trying to cross the tracks. Adam Hernandez: "She looked like she was going to try to beat the track, the train going across the track you know and it just didn't happen. She just didn't make it." Off camera her husband Tony says he's heading to Utah's Primary Childrens' Hospital to see to care for his 3-year-old daughter. He and other family members were too broken up to say anything else. Down the street at the local Co-op one woman says she knows the family well. Linda Alen: "I knew they were expecting a little girl next month, and I just made her a baby blanket and a photo album. And they're really good customers." The baby survived thanks to an emergency c-section at EIRMC. And the Tony won't be alone to raise it. Linda Alen: "He's got family real close, and I'm sure that they'll all help and do as much as they can do. And I'm sure that the town will help out what they can do and stuff to help take care of it." |
