Madison Memorial Hospital Moves Into New Wing
By Nate Eaton
Hundreds of doctors, nurses, staff, and patients are starting to move into the brand new wing of Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg.
The staff at the hospital has been waiting eight years for this. Kami Roedel, Surgical Technician: "We're excited. Bigger rooms, better equipment, and it'll just make it a lot easier." Surgery rooms are all ready to go and doctors, nurses, and other workers are happy to show off the newest part of the hospital. David Rowe, Madison Memorial Hospital CEO: "It's a milestone event." A major part of the 55 million dollar project is now complete. Equipment is in place and within the next few days, patients will be moved to the new part of the building. Rowe: "Our people have worked very hard and we're excited and resolute at the same time." Nobody ever wants to have to go to the hospital but if you do have to, Madison Memorial is the place to come. Operating rooms are a lot bigger than the old ones and they have the newest technology. Roedel" "If we're doing some surgery and they decide they want to do a scope, we don't have to worry about whether or not that equipment is being used in another room. We know that we've already got it here." But despite the new technology and the spacious rooms, hospital staff says patients will still be first priority." Paul Beisser, CRNA: "It's a wonderful facility for us to work in and we're gonna be able to provide wonderful patient care." Rowe: "Good patient care is truly at the heart of what we do." Starting Monday, if you need to go to the emergency room or any part of Madison Memorial, you'll have to go through the entrance of the new part of the hospital. Renovation on the old part should be complete by next spring and a year from now, the entire project should be complete. |
