Shelley Neighborhood Locked Down
By Jennifer McGraw
Terrifying moments for one Shelley family who came home Friday afternoon to find their streets tagged off with caution tape and no way to get to their 13 year old son who was home alone.
The parents of the 13 year old sat patiently in front of the yellow tape waiting for police to give them any news of what was going on. They were only told that there were two armed suspects that police believe to be involved in an armed home invasion robbery this morning. They called their son right away to tell him to lock the doors and hold tight. Moments later her son called back and said "mom there are all these guys with guns outside our house" Amandia Smith, (mother): "I am very nervous. Very scared. He's home alone and he's only 13 and that could put him in serious danger." After waiting for two hours, Officers had the 13 year old boy call them and they were able to safely return him back to his parents who were still behind the caution tape. Mr. And Mrs. Smith told me they could careless about their home and things, they had more important things to get back to. Robert Smith, (father): "He's out he's safe. We can worry about when to go home later." The Smith family was pretty shook up and said they would not be returning for awhile. Other neighbors also expressed their concerns. Wayne Baker, (Shelley Neighbor): "We want to know that our place is safe and everything around us and we want to know it's going to be safe when the kids get home. this has been a great neighborhood we want to keep it this way." Residents in Shelley are now home safe. |
