Chubbuck Tip-A-Cop

Chubbuck Tip-A-Cop

By Wes Horrocks

Today officers with the Chubbuck Police Department hung up their badges to become waiters at the Texas Roadhouse. The switch is part of the annual Tip-A-Cop fundraiser.

Officers visited tables at the restaurant handing out donation envelopes for Special Olympics Idaho. All of the money raised helps support athletes here in Idaho. Lt. Jean Higgins, with the Chubbck Police said, "Our top goal is to raise $5,000. I understand they're going to pay for uniforms for the athletes."

Restaurant employees and patrons all seem to like the event. Service Manager Curt Christensen said, "It's really a lot of fun for the patrons, and the cops are really getting into it. Today's goal is to get them out there line dancing."

Oraganizers hope today's line dances, face painting, and other activities will not only raise money, but will also remind residents about the Special Olympics.
