Family Who Lost Home in Fire Asks for Help

By Hasti Taghi

A family is homeless this week after a fire destroyed their Springfield home last Wednesday.

The house was a dream come true for the mother of 9 and her family. In fact she had been fixing the house and had not yet even moved her children into the home. Tonight she is pleading for help from the community to make a new place for her family to call home.

"It was on fire and i just got on my knees and cried...That's all i could do" Jeanette Potts, home owner

An emotional homecoming for this mother of 9 as she describes the night of the fire.

"We lost everything..."- Potts

Ashes and a burnt structure are all that remain of what was Jeanette Potts'' dream home. Potts purchased the home in September after months of hard work to be able to afford the down-payment.

"I wanted a home... a garden... a country living." -Potts

But with no insurance ... Those dreams went up in smokes with the fire. With 9 children ranging in age from 27 to 8 years old...Potts hopes to place a trailer home on the property and slowly rebuild. Her oldest son hopes the future holds less sadness for his mother..

"That i can see her cry tears of joy instead of tears of pain because God knows it and I know it that she deserves it more than anything." Bryan Brown, Potts' Son

With dreams of one day having a place to call home... The family hopes with your donations and their bond...They will make it through this disaster.

The cause of that fire is not known and an investigation is on-going to see if it could have been caused by arson. If you want to help this family make a new home of their own...They are accepting donations at The Bank of Commerce in Blackfoot.
