A former BYU-Idaho student who had over 70 images of child pornography on his computer was sentenced Monday in Madison County.

John Vrabec says he's learned his lesson after being arrested last August when police found 72 images of child pornography on his computer.

John Vrabec, Sentenced Monday: "I'm gonna do what I have to do. I want to be with my family. I want to be able to support them."

Vrabec was supposed to be sentenced in January but Judge Brent Moss ordered him to undergo a second psycho sexual evaluation after prosecutors had doubts about the first test. At that time, Vrabec's wife Jessica said she stands behind her husband.

Jessica Vrabec, John's Wife: "He knows that if there's any more problems that I won't be around and that he will be turned in."

Judge Moss told Vrabec child pornography cases are always troubling.

Judge Brent Moss, Seventh District: "There are young children now that are being abused so you can enjoy what you're seeing."

Moss gave Vrabec a two to eight year sentence. Vrabec will serve six months in jail and if he shows progress, will be on probation for the rest of his sentence.

He also is not allowed to have any contact with anyone under 18 years old...including his children.

Moss: "The family knows you in one way. I know you in another and those are very inconsistent pictures."

Vrabec has been receiving personal and marriage counseling since he was arrested.

Judge Moss will review his case in October.
