The St. Anthony Police Department is dealing with one of the most unbelievable cases ever. A 10-year-old gives birth to a baby girl and the alleged father is 37-year-old Guadalupe Gutierrez-Juarez. Gutierrez-Juarez is in jail on one felony count of rape.

Chief James Smith, St. Anthony Police Dept.: "There's quite a bit of things like this that happen but this is probably the worst."

Channel 3 has learned the girl was 9-years-old when she got pregnant. Sources close to the case say she may have had a medical condition that made her hit puberty early. She was also a little overweight so that may have concealed the pregnancy. Right now both she and her baby girl, who weighed about six pounds at birth, are in state custody.

Dee Raush, St. Anthony City Council: "I felt great sadness for the child and the family."

People in St. Anthony are still shocked over what happened but they want to do everything they can to help the girl and her baby.

Raush: "I went around and I've talked to people in the community and their hearts just pour out to this girl and her family and we would do anything."

Right now those associated with the case say the girl is doing okay physically. More information should be released soon.
