Teton Co. Dog-Shooting Deputy Resigns from Job

By Nate Eaton

The Teton County Sheriff's Deputy at the center of a dog-shooting controversy for the past six months has resigned.

In November, Deputy Joseph Gutierrez shot a dog three times on its owners property.

After a long investigation by the state attorney general's office, Gutierrez was charged last week with a misdemeanor count of animal cruelty.

Gutierrez has informed the sheriff's office of his resignation, which was effective Friday, May 2, 2008.
