ONLY ON 3: Father of Deceased Shooting Suspect

ONLY ON 3: Father of Deceased Shooting Suspect

By Hasti Taghi

A Police involved shooting this afternoon leaves one man dead.
Eyewitness news reporter Hasti Taghi was the only reporter to speak to a man claiming to be the father of that man and a neighbor who saw some of the incident...

"we didn't expect him to make it to his 30th birthday... And now he has died at 24."

These words from a man who says he is the father of Steve Hembreiker...
...And adds Steve is the dead suspect police shot in today's officer-involved shooting.
We do not have POLICE confirmation OF the MAN'S identity.

"at this point we are still investigating."

Around 12:30 this afternoon... Officers TRIED to make a traffic stop with a man who they knew was driving without a license. Blackfoot Police tell us that man then ran from officers. After a short chase he threatened an officer with a weapon and that officer fired at the man...
He was pronounced dead a short while later at Bingham Memorial Hospital.

"our officers did what he could..."

The officer who fired along with 3 observing officers are on administrative leave tonight.
A Neighbor describes what *HE saw.

"my dog was barking...I went outside and saw a police car with it's door open but no one inside...then I saw a man lying on the floor and he looked like he was dead."

Hembreiker tells me he heard the news from a friend and knew it was his son.

"I do wish they could have used tasers instead, but I haven't heard exactly what happened."
