These students at Pocatello High School are getting ready to take the advanced placement test for government.
They have been reading this textbook all year to prepare.
The book ..."American Government" by James Wilson and John Dilulio... is now being criticized by a student in New Jersey for a conservative bias and incorrect facts.

"I don't really think there is a bias..."student

The New Jersey student's concerns are being taken seriously by the publisher and the college board which is in charge of advanced placement classes.
Both say they plan to review the book's content.

"I can see that some parts of it are a little biased but not too much."

Derk Mitton teaches the AP government class and says although he doesn't see much partiality ... he thinks it's important for students to recognize bias.

"they know there is bias out there and it's healthy for them to think about it."

Mitton has been teaching the class for about 3 years and says this book has served it's purpose and he plans to continue using the book for his future classes.

Idaho law allows state agencies to divert some state income tax refunds to pay legal obligations like court fees, child support, and sheriff's garnishments. Taxpayers whose refunds have been diverted have no legal recourse. What do you think of the law?

  • Times are tight. If the state needs the money, this approach is better than budget cuts, tax hikes, etc.
  • I'm entitled to the refund, and the state can just take it? Unfair and ridiculous.
  • Not sure.
