A magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck this morning just northeast of Elko, Nevada.

The quake had a preliminary magnitude of 6.3 and was reported at
7:16 a.m, our time.

It was centered in a sparsely populated area 11 miles southeast
of Wells near the Nevada-Utah line.

Elko County Undersheriff Rocky Gonzalez said there are unconfirmed reports of some damage to buildings.

The temblor was felt by many people here in Southeastern Idaho, across eastern Nevada, Utah and as far away as Southern California.

Viewers from Ammon to Bone to Pocatello reported feeling the earthquake.
