Illegal Immigrant Sentenced for Grand Theft

An illegal immigrant accused of assisting his wife in a theft case was sentenced in Madison County Monday.

Carlos Martinez-Acosta is accused of knowingly keeping a four wheeler his wife had stolen from Rexburg Motor Sports.

In October, his wife, Araceli Lopez, was sentenced and turned over to I.N.S.

Monday Carlos received a suspended sentence of one to five years in prison but he will be also be turned over to I.N.S. and sent back to Mexico.

If he ever returns to the U-S, he will have to serve that sentence.
