Steaming things up

IDAHO FALLS - "As far as dry cleaning goes you know it's one of those things that people are constantly looking for jobs people have to look good at work and so really our business has stayed pretty good," says Teton Cleaners owner Paul Nigbur.

To help people look their best for the job, Justine took on the job of cleaning up messes they left behind.

"These guys are so tough to get on, there we go," says Justine as she puts on rubber gloves.

"Ooh lipstick nail polish and other dry side stains."

Other stains like grease that may need an over spray, hot steam, and even a special tool to really get it out.

"It just depends on if the item comes in with a stain or not we work on each stain individually. It depends if it's a wet clean item or if it's a dry clean item," says assistant manager Maria Hernandez.

"Give it some elbow grease a little bit hard, yeah," says Hernandez.

And once Justine gave it all the elbow grease she had she moved on to the next item.

"How bout this shirt that's a nice looking shirt," says Justine.

"Oh I think I made a wrinkle here."

All of the ironing and steaming really turns up the heat but it certainly gets the job done.

"I've got steam this way and air this way," says Justine.

But the job can only really be done with the right type of people employed.

"All we're looking for is people who are hard workers people who want to be here they do have to have some sort of flexible hours as well," says Nigbur.

"Go like this? Use your belly to hold it back," says Justine.

And Justine may just be one of those people.

"Oh wait one goes forward ones goes back doesn't it? There we go, whoa! We're just gonna go all the way around. We'll get there eventually," says Justine.

"She did good. She caught on fast," says Hernandez.

And if Justine decided it was time for a career change she knows where to go.

"We definitely will be looking at adding a couple more employees absolutely in the very near future," says Nigbur.

"There, all ready to be picked up."

This week Gov. Otter signed a bill requiring Idaho to sue the federal government if Congress passes health care reform. What's your response to this?

  • It's great to see Idaho taking the lead on this. Someone has to stand up to what's happening in Washington.
  • We can't afford to pay for education in Idaho, but we're going to spend tax dollars to sue the feds? Ridiculous.
  • Not sure.
