IDAHO FALLS - For the past two weeks I took you shopping with an expert mom, Tricia Scrogum and three younger kids. This week we went shopping for her high schooler and it turns out high school boys are less work and money.

Tricia Scrogum, (Expert Mom): "High school boys just need jeans and tee-shirts. Boys are easy."

This is JC, he's 15 and an big athlete at Skyline high. When it comes to his wardrobe he looks for

JC "Just whatever is on sale. Looks stylish, what's in."

Tip # 1: We started out by taking an inventory, setting a budget, and finding out the trends for young men this year.

Kim Clark, (Macy's Manager): "Always denim. Skinny jeans, straight jeans, and jeans with embellished pockets are really big this year

With the economy in a crunch many people are looking towards discount stores to save where they can.

Tricia Scrogum: "I like shopping at Ross because you can still get the named brands, but for a cheaper price."

But before you shop you must set a budget, but here's a new trick

Tip # 2: Tricia Scrogum: "Set a budget but don't necessarily tell your kids what that budget is. You may save money in the end."

Shopping can be easy.

Tricia Scrogum: "Shopping doesn't have to be hard as long as you set a budget and know what you're looking for."

We are looking for jeans, Tee-shirts and shoes.

Tip # 3: Jennifer McGraw: "When you're shopping for your teenager make sure you look at the cotton count. Shirts can shrink and by the time school starts, they may not even fit."

We went to Ross Dress for less, Macy's and Kohls and all had great prices.

Here's the best deals we found:

This graphic shirt for only $12 from Kohls.
These jeans from Macy's for only $25
These tennis shoes from Ross for just $29

Tip # 4: Tricia Scrogum: "Make sure you shift through the racks so you're getting a good sale.".

But make sure the sale is actually still saving you money

Tip # 5: Tricia Scrogum: "It's enticing to buy when it says buy one get one half off. If you only need one, just get one."

And at the end of the day we found:

Tricia Scrogum: "We can go to a lot of different stores in a short amount of time."

In total we bought five shirts
Two pairs of jeans
A pair of tennis shoes
Two packs of socks
and one leather belt
For a grand total of 136.00 dollars!!

This week we got the most stuff for the best price.

Tricia Scrogum: "When you take your kids shopping, make it a fun experience. You can really get to know each other,"

Those are my tips for you and your high schoolers.
Next week I will have a special report on some cool items you may want to look into for back to school.
