Is Nuclear The Answer?

Tools

By Todd Kunz

Republican presidential candidate John McCain is calling for the construction of 45 new nuclear reactors to be built by the year 2030. On top of that, he is pledging 2-billion dollars a year in federal funding to make clean coal a reality. He says the measures will reduce American dependence on foreign oil.

Now think back...it was July 17th, 1955...all eyes on Arco, Idaho as nuclear power took off. We come now full circle to 2008. Could national nuclear help once again be coming from Eastern Idaho?

Beth Sellers, Manager of the Idaho Operations Office for the Department Of Energy responds.

This week Gov. Otter signed a bill requiring Idaho to sue the federal government if Congress passes health care reform. What's your response to this?

  • It's great to see Idaho taking the lead on this. Someone has to stand up to what's happening in Washington.
  • We can't afford to pay for education in Idaho, but we're going to spend tax dollars to sue the feds? Ridiculous.
  • Not sure.
