Environmentally Friendly Cleaning

BONNEVILLE COUNTY - Tim Thomas has been in the cleaning industry for more than twenty years; and he's pleased to see greener products being used- especially when it comes to your personal space.

"Well a lot of the chemical that we use we do a lot of fabric and upholstery cleaning, a lot of carpet, and textile cleaning, What we are trying to do is leave our customers with clean safe sterile environment... What we bring in, we take away with us, plus a little bit more usually," says owner of Thomas Cleaning and Restoration, Tim Thomas.

How you throw out your cleaning products has been an ongoing issue, but because these solutions are so biodegradable, that isn't a problem any longer.

"The products that we use are... We are able to dispose of them safely, we can put some of them right down the city drains," says Thomas.

If you clean inside a closed environment, you can inhale dangerous chemicals, but Tim uses a citrus-based line.

Not only are the products they use environmentally friendly, but their equipment it too.

"The equipment is powered by electricity, the equipment that we use is very low amperage, so we are achieving a higher velocity of fan air movement at a lower power consumption," explains Thomas.

The old saying, "if a little is good, then a lot must be better" doesn't hold true for the cleaning industry; by using greener resources, you don't need as much of the harmful chemicals, to get the job done.

This week Gov. Otter signed a bill requiring Idaho to sue the federal government if Congress passes health care reform. What's your response to this?

  • It's great to see Idaho taking the lead on this. Someone has to stand up to what's happening in Washington.
  • We can't afford to pay for education in Idaho, but we're going to spend tax dollars to sue the feds? Ridiculous.
  • Not sure.
