REXBURG - Heading into the weekend, some BYU-Idaho students are getting a headstart on their holiday travel plans. They're getting some help in a way they didn't think they would just a few months ago.

Despite the tumbling economy, the prices at the pump are one bright spot. Gas prices continue to drop and that's helping more people go home for the holidays.

Friday, thousands of BYU-Idaho students could be seen leaving town for a week-long Thanksgiving break. Some expect more will be able to leave town because of dropping prices.

"A few of my friends are actually getting to go home because the gas prices went down," says one student.

"It's definitely less constraint for people that they can go and spend time with their loved ones, says another.

The lowest price of gas we are able to find in Idaho Falls is at the Phillips 66 on Sunnyside and 15th East. A gallon of regular unleaded will cost you $1.85.

This week Gov. Otter signed a bill requiring Idaho to sue the federal government if Congress passes health care reform. What's your response to this?

  • It's great to see Idaho taking the lead on this. Someone has to stand up to what's happening in Washington.
  • We can't afford to pay for education in Idaho, but we're going to spend tax dollars to sue the feds? Ridiculous.
  • Not sure.
