Wasting Water

There is a difference between simply over watering your grass and flat out wasting water.

Today I spoke with residents who rent apartments on Prospect Drive and they told me they are tired of living in a swamp

Edgar Cruz, (Prospect Dr. Resident): "I play soccer in the back. It really gets swampy."

It's been over five days now and the water just keeps pouring in.

Brooke Wright, (Prospect Dr. Resident): "The water is just a muddy and gross and kids can't even play in the grass or anything. (The water is) all over the roads and sidewalks. We don't need to be watering the sidewalk."

Idaho Falls Department of Water tells me this is a blatant misuse of water.

David Richards, (IF Department of Water): "This is definitely a case of wasting water."

The department of water says that it's unnecessary to water your lawn every day and in this case it may cause other problems.

David Richards: "This is a problem because it creates standing water with such issues as West Nile Virus. In Addition, it costs the city money to pump water for any time they abuse it. In a situation like this, it needs to be taken care of."

The land lord told me that they have acknowledged the problem and promise to have it taken care of.

The Idaho Falls Department of water is urging people to notify them of any mis use of water or waste.

This week Gov. Otter signed a bill requiring Idaho to sue the federal government if Congress passes health care reform. What's your response to this?

  • It's great to see Idaho taking the lead on this. Someone has to stand up to what's happening in Washington.
  • We can't afford to pay for education in Idaho, but we're going to spend tax dollars to sue the feds? Ridiculous.
  • Not sure.
