Man Riding Horseback Across Country

An Oregan man is undertaking a 2,000 mile ride, and he's doing it by horseback.

This afternoon he's passing through Eastern Idaho. Newswatch Three caught up with him along his journey.

Bill Inman and his horse Blackie are traveling together on a journey that will take them from Oregon to North Carolina.

"He was trained as a rodeo horse. Since then he's also worked as a ranch horse in Nevada," says Inman.

Blackie is now a traveling horse. So far he's trotted nearly 700 miles on this trip, and he's got about 1,500 miles to go.

Rider Bill Inman began this journey in an attempt to inspire anyone facing adversity. So far he's been greeted by many friendly faces here in Idaho.

"I've seen generosity, gratitude, and kindness."

Blackie's feeling the love too, but it's been a rough ride. Blackie has traveled through snow in the cascades, 106 degree temperatures in the desert and more recently, a few rain storms.

It's been one of the most demanding experiences for Bill and Blackie.

"You've got to take some risk or you'll never get to where you want to go."

A physical and mental challenge, but well worth the ride.

Bill and Blackie's cross country journey will end in North Carolina. You can find out more about the journey you can visit Bill's website at http://www.uncoveringamerica.com
