Bangers And Mash
By Kris Keach
Robert Teasdale: "It might be a recession here, but if they want a recession go to England. Petrol is 12 Dollars a gallon."
So much for recession. Now let's talk food. And when it comes to food they mean business. Chef Teasdale has cooked traditional English dishes for 38 years and he's got references. Robert Teasdale: "We've cooked for the queen and Diana and Prince Phillip." And now he's cooking dishes like this traditional curry with mango chutney for you. Robert Teasdale: "You can eat like a king but pay like a pauper. So you haven't got to have a lot of money. You can still come here and enjoy yourself and have a good time and we'll look after you." One customer tried the English breakfast. Dennis Vance: "Ham and sausage, baked beans, toast, baked tomato, mushrooms. It was quite the breakfast." What about lunch? Robert Teasdale: "It's a strip of New York beef, a whole turkey, leg of pork and that's going to be on the carvery for lunch." Or how about some Yorkshire pudding before the house specialty. Robert Teasdale: "Our fish and chips is gonna be big probably 18 inches, a pound in weight covered in batter." And the atmosphere is kind of fun. Larrain Teasdale: "We tried to do it as near to London as we could you know with the tunnel and trains and the ticket office." Robert Teasdale: "You'll enjoy it and come back again. I know you will once you've tried it you'll be back. So this weekend why not take a trip to jolly old England without ever having to leave town. They're open Monday through Saturday from 7 am to 10 pm and they're closed on Sunday. |
