Does it Really Work? - Bacon Pop, Bacon Ranch, Bacon Flavored Mmmvelopes
We've got a special treat for 'Does it Really Work?' this week.

I've got not one, not two, but three products to test out!

"Everything should taste like bacon." That's the slogan for today's products. Let's see how they rate on the Spud-o-Meter.

First.. It was Bacon Salt.

"That's actually really good," says Anthony Congi.

Then came Baconnaise.

"Mmmm. That's really good," says family.

Just when you thought bacon couldn't be added to anything else. The Bacon Salt folks are now making Bacon Popcorn, Bacon Ranch and Bacon Flavored Envelopes.

"I like the taste of bacon. I love bacon. But I don't put bacon on my sandwiches or on my burger. The taste is good but it's not worth the calories," says Emily Florez.

The newest member of our Eyewitness News Team, Emily Florez, will try out the three products.

"There are people out there that feel like everything should taste like bacon so I'm sure there's a niche that loves the product," says Emily.

First up... Bacon Pop.

"Let's smell this. Oh yeah. That's bacon," says Emily.

The directions say to cook in microwave for one to four minutes.

"Remember, you have to pop popcorn until it's two seconds between each pop," says Emily.

I wish there was such thing as Smell-O-Vision because our kitchen area really smells like bacon right now.

"Whoa! Do you smell it? Whew," says Emily.

We know it smells good, but how about the taste.

"You know what? That's actually good," says Emily.

Emily's right. Good mix of butter and bacon, and not overpowering.

"The taste wasn't super super strong of bacon but just a nice hint, I would give it a four [on the Spud-o-Meter], says Emily"

We're off to a good start. Up next, Bacon Ranch. Just mix the packet with Butter Milk and mayonnaise, and chill for a couple hours.

"Let's dip it on in," says Emily.

Since we're eating carrots, it automatically makes it healthy, right?

"Wow. That's a bacon taste. Good," says Emily.

We found another winner!

"Really, I like that taste. It's a perfect combination. I'd give it a five [on the Spud-o-Meter," says Emily.

And now for our non-edible bacon product, bacon flavored Mmmvelopes.

"I could write a quick note and send it home," says Emily.

Poor Emily, she probably had no idea she'd be coming into work today with a camera in her face licking an envelope.

"They taste like bacon for the most part, but I did still get the envelope taste," says Emily.

"I would rate these a three [on the Spud-o-Meter], says Emily.

I think we're almost baconed out.

"Those two things [Bacon Pop & Bacon Ranch] are really good. I think people would buy that and it's marketable," says Emily.

As for the Mmmvelopes...

"It's a fun, quirky gift for someone who loves bacon," says Emily.

Oh, about that part being all baconed out... I take that back.

"I wanna eat more of this Bacon Ranch," says Emily.

Wind Farms

The wind turbines lining the foothills east of Idaho Falls are getting a lot of attention. What do you think about the wind farms?

  • They're too close to residential areas and they're lowering property values. They're ruining the view. Build them somewhere else!
  • They provide clean energy, and they generate local jobs and tax revenue. They're the wave of the future. Welcome to town!
  • Not sure.
